This decaffeinated, pulped natural coffee comes from the celebrated farm of Sitio Bateia, in the city of Castelo, Espirito Santo. Sitio Bateia is run by Vagner Dias Sartori, and was established by Vagner’s great-grandfather in the 1900s. After being harvested and processed by Vagner and his family, the green coffee is sent to Germany for decaffeination. This coffee has been decaffeinated using the CO2 process, where the washed beans are soaked in liquid carbon. The CO2 in the liquid carbon then binds with the caffeine molecules, which are isolated and drawn out of the bean. This process is repeated until less than 1% of caffeine remains in the beans. Expect a rich body, good sweetness and notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut and biscuit.
